Lecture: 10x10x10cm – Stumbling blocks in Ulm

Date and Time: 12th October 2022, 6:30 pm

Speaker: Yvonne Schefler, Ulmer Stolpersteineinitiative

In Ulm exist 144 Stolpersteine: 10x10x10cm concrete cuboids with a brass plate in which the name, date of birth and death of a victim of the Nazi regime are inscribed. The idea comes from Gunter Demnig, who makes the stones and lays them all over Europe in front of the former homes of the victims. An important part of the laying of the stumbling blocks is civic engagement: in Ulm, the Stolpersteininitiative Ulm intensively researches the life stories, organizes layings, cleaning campaigns and guided tours. The speaker Yvonne Schefler will introduce you to the work of the initiative.

The lecture is organised in the frame of VIVES@BW and will therefore be held in German – translation can be provided in English, Romanian, Bulgarian & Ukrainian.
